He hails from the southern city of Matara, a Singhalese brought up in the Buddhist way of life, but yet strives for the freedom & rights of his fellow citizens regardless of race, religion or rank. Since his University days he fought for their freedom from oppression & suppression, freedom to practice their religions in a peaceful manner & opportunities to grow & prosper. He was a leader to his peers in University, a proven team player in soccer & rugby. Not only is he an activist but a teacher, researcher, loyal friend, loving husband & a wonderful father to his child. A countries greatest asset is its educated citizens, is his greatest belief. With an unblemished record of political activism, he even stood up for the rights of his archrivals, hence gaining the respect & alliance of all. Loyalty & faithfulness is his greatest attributes thus he put his party/ others before himself & was a force behind the scene. But never hesitant to step forward & face a challenge hence ran the campaigns for Prof. G.L. Peiris & the late Maj. Gen. Janaka Perera. When other leaders deserted their ideals for petty gains, he stood by his principles, with the party.
